Gardasil Put Off for Another Year.

We just got back from the pediatrician and she recommends that we wait another year or two. We have a little more time to see the effects and to become more comfortable. She said that if DD was 15 or 16, she would advise differently, but we have a little more time. So she got her Chicken Pox booster (remember when they said we wouldn't need those, but now we do), but no Gardasil.

My dear friend, Jacque, at Walking Therein has done some extensive research on Gardasil. Here's a link to her blog with some articles she's posted. Maybe there's something here that can be useful for you.

Blessings,
Dianne :D

DO NOT WAIT to get your daughter Gardasil even if she is not sexually active. The idea is to protect her BEFORE she does ANY kind of sexual activity. I am not saying your child is going to be having sex anytime, but eventually she may engage in othersexual activity that she could contract HPV from-Oral sex, hand-to-genital petting, genital to genital contact---I know AMNY MANY teenagers who contract this virus at a VERY young age (yes including 12 year olds) for such activities-kids these days ARE naive to these things. The FDA would not be recommending the vaccine for such a young age if they did not see the need for it! PROTECT HER!

ANONYMOUS needs to do a little research and not be so quick to trust Big Brother! When Americans start looking into things on their own instead of being mindless automotons and believing we HAVE to do it because "they said so", we will be in a better place health-wise, financially and educationally!!
I'll bet most women don't know that the birth control pill does not prevent pregnancy, it just causes any fertilized eggs/already conceived babies to *not* be implanted into the wall of the uterus!! In other words, it is an abortion! I told my Dr. I did not want to be on the pill for that reason, and he stopped mid-sentence and said, "How did you know that?". Let's look deeper!!

Glad you got the info in time. Too many girls have died. The fact is that this is about the drug companies, as usual.

Did your daughter not have the chicken pox as a child? I used to intentionally expose my children to it when I could, all at the same time so we could get it all over with at once. The actual antibodies one gets from that type of exposure lasts a lifetime. The vaccine wears off. [But I don't think tell you that]. I researched that a bit too when a friend's Dr. told her some horrific number of deaths that was complete exaggeration!!
So, glad I had that info for you! Thank you for letting me know!

Blessings to you and your daughter~
Jacque

Both of my children had chicken pox as children. DD not as great of a case as DS. However, when she was going to school (they were in school from K-2), we either had to "prove" she had Chicken Pox or immunize her. I immunized her. The doctor had said that if the case wasn't "strong" enough, she may need the immunization anyway. I felt caught. She "had" to go to school. To test they would have to take a blood test and then possibly give her the immunization anyway. I opted for one stick instead of two. I did not see another option. Irronically, one year later, when I said the DS had had chickenpox. It was just accepted and there was no other conversation. Now she is having boosters because you are right that the chicken pox vacinne is now not seen as lifetime protection. Of course, if you know anything about Chicken Pox, the older you are when you contract it the more serious the side effects. So when these boosters wear off and people forget / don't get the booster, we may see a side effect that we never considered. I'm not sure why we need to irradicate a childhood disease that while annoying is not usually deadly. Perhaps they should treat it like the flu. If you have other complications that would make having the Chicken Pox more dangerous, then those are the people that should be immunized. For the rest of us, it may be an option.

WOMAN you are crazy---too many girls have died----seriously----why do we need to immunize people----well let's see, lets take away vaccines---lets get rid of ALL of them. let's starts seeing outrageous outbreaks of all kinds of things---just go to the 3rd world countries were EVERYONE is sick and dying from VACCINE preventable diseases-then you tell me you dont want anyone being vaccinated by anything---

Anonymous, My children have the basic vaccines, but the government does not have a perfect track record. Have you done research on medications and vaccines that were considered safe but have pulled off because problems were found later . . . I don't want my child to be a guinea pig. Yes, I want both of them safe from the disease and from the side effects.

Do you have children? I did not say that I didn't want anyone vacinated for anything but I think there is a huge difference between Chicken Pox and Polio. I think in many cases we are too quick to medicate and overlook side effects.

I welcome your comments on my site, but please refrain from attacking people's positions.
